Learning Analytics

A learning Designer who appreciates the data-driven nature of our work is one who will be full aware of the response and impact their work has on the learner.  Thus, a good learning designer uses all of the tools available to gather, display, and represent the outcomes of a learning experience.

QCTIP Scorecard

The Quality Course Teaching & Instructional Practice (QCTIP) allows learning designers to evaluate their courses based on standardized areas.  In this paper, I reviewed a sample MOOC course using the QCTIP and wrote up an evaluation.

Usability Testing

Conducting usability testing allows learning designers to collect data about the structure and design of the learning experience before the course is finalized.  This allows the learning designer to optimize the teaching and learning process while still in the development stage.

As part of my creation of an onboarding course for new student workers in my department at The Universities at Shady Grove, I created a functional prototype, which was reviewed by current student workers and departmental staff.  The results were added to the overall Design Document.
